Dear Huw, Gretchen, Zeph and Lark,
I know people have been saying all sorts of things about me lately, and you’re probably pretty confused. So I thought I’d ask a few questions to help clear things up:
If I’m not going to punish you for the rest of your life, why bother obeying me?
If I’m not going to punish you for the rest of your life, why bother helping your brother or sister when they’re in need?
If I’m not going to punish you for the rest of your life, why bother forgiving your brother or sister if they hurt you?
If I’m not going to punish you for the rest of your life, why bother telling your siblings about the good things I’ve done for you?
If I’m not going to punish you for the rest of your life, why bother being part of my family at all?
I hope your answer to each question is as simple as mine: Because I love you.
